2011 Wrap Up! :)

Wow, when I am feeling like writing now and then checking back my posts, I just realized that I only posted 2 posts this year. Yes, this WHOLE year. Oh my gosh, I really don’t have the talent.. *tears*

By the way..
Taadaaaa..!!

Woohoo!! I finally finished my undergraduate degree study last September. I know how it was so disturbing for you hearing my nagging about my thesis last time :p There will be no more of it! Yippie! *relieved* but I don’t promise you if it comes again for my master thesis. Lol

Talking about master thesis, I am planning to take my master degree, soon! I am in the process of applying now. Applying here and there, this and that.. My father won’t let us to have any work before me and my sisters achieved high degree in our study. Yes, that is my parents’ teaching, and I am totally happy with that since it is the same with one of my targets in life.. At the moment, when everybody’s busy looking for work and getting married, I kinda already know what to do :D

I am intending to take Applied Linguistics or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) for my master degree major, still in the world of LANGUAGE and TEACHING. Ofcourse! I think I’ve told you that I gave up doing anything with numbers and formulas :p And I feel like I already can see myself into this field, and if it changes oneday, it won’t go far from English language, maybe like public relation or jurnalism :D You will think that my English is that perfect rite? Naaahhh, don’t imagine too far because mine is only at average level but what I have is confidence and enthusiasm I guess.. *over-confident* :p

I’ve told you that I am highly-interested in Korea right? And I still do! Currently I don’t watch the dramas anymore but more to the reality shows. And also realizing that my ipod’s playlist is only filled with Korean songs. I also learned Hangeul (Korean alphabet) and some short conversations. Aaaaaahhh how I really wanna practice the language directly in that country :( Eeeerrrrr.. But I won’t share a lot about Korea though, I don’t want to let my blog becomes a fanpage or k-pop blog. Hehe.. I am 22 now, I don’t wanna look childish *at least in this blog* :p
Oh one last thing! My sister is living in Canada right now and just had a cute baby which is ofcourse my nephew! He is sooo cute and I really really wanna meet him! :( His name is Baim. My Mom is now living there temporarily to take care of him and now I am doing household chores here at home T.T

He’s so cute right? I am an auntie now :p

I think that wrapped up everything happened in my 2011! And I am looking forward to 2012 to hear more good news in my life! Especially about my study! What? Marriage? Errr.. Lets discuss it later after I get into my master degree okay? One by one please :p

For anyone who read this, thank you for your time and I wish u a happy new year! I wish you guys health and happiness! And the same wish goes for me too :)

Love,
Rya Rochman

My Bachelor Degree Thesis

Before I start bubbling about my unfinished thesis, I am quite motivated by some direct comments to me about my blog, that’s why I’m writing again! (After ages of hibernation :p) And I hope I can continually write since I’ve downloaded wordpress app in my blackberry! Woohoo! Say horray to technology! Horray!!
Okay, enough Rya >.<

Stop reading this post if you are not majoring in English Education! I'm afraid that you'll get bored reading this because this post is no fun at all, but go on if you really want to know :p

It took a whole year till finally I finished one step in my thesis, the research. Just finished it this May. (Yes readers, I know, how slow I am. Don't really care, my life, my way! *selfish moment* :p)
At least, it's a great relief that I've passed the hardest part of my thesis, that is, teaching in school. I was an impatient person when dealing with over-active highschool students, but it's quite a challenge tough.

Ummm.. Actually, my research is about using contextual analysis to understand unfamiliar words in reading comprehension. Yes, as simple as that.
So what’s your inspiration Rya? How did you finally decide to choose that problem? *self-asking*
Reading is one of my many hobbies (the best after watching movies and travelling~errr… But I don’t really do much travelling due to financial reason, this is just the hobby-to-be oneday when I have a huge amount of capital of my own, ohh never mind :D ) that I love till now since the very first time I knew how to read. My parents are so generous in any things in order to give the best education for their children, and because of this, my sisters and I have about hundreds of books of any kinds at home. I love to go to bookstores, buying books and novels, and locking myself in my room to read them, having my ‘silent time’. I didn’t understand many words in English at the time, but it’s really rare that I have a dictionary with me while reading, but I enjoy reading a lot and I always learn new words. How come? Yup, by guessing through the context surrounding the unfamiliar words. I didn’t waste too much time disturbing my enjoyment in reading by opening dictionary for every word that I don’t know (also proved by what’s seen in my observation in the classroom, students almost always depend on dictionary or alfalink while reading texts).

And my research was implementing this strategy to them, letting them to be independent readers without the help of dictionary. My research was not a hundred percent perfect as what I’ve planned, the problems were the students who don’t really like to read and this strategy has to be a habit for them not because they are told to do so. But I’ve tried my hard, I forced them to think and guess, and I hope this strategy will really help them in reading just like how it helped me all this time.

Pray for me readers, I am dying to leave this town soon (after 8 years of being stucked here) with a bachelor degree behind my name. I want to see the world out there. Wish me luck!

Will write again really soon,
Xoxo

First Post of The Year

Another year has come, yeah its 2011 already. And I am still working on my thesis. Oh gosh.. I got a little problem here and there blocking me with my graduation, but it’s okay I’m working very hard for it now. It’s hard to focus on one thing when you have too many things dancing in your head. Okay, done for the uni-thing, I want to share you what I have been doing lately :)

I am now a teacher in an English course. I have been doing this job for about 6 months by the time, and it has been a great experience. Now I know it’s not that easy to be a teacher, preparing materials every meeting, creating the mood in the class, understanding each student’s personality, being patient with many obstacles, and being creative in delivering the lesson. It’s all been like a challenge and I am really enjoying it, like I’ve been born to teach :p I don’t think I have specialty in doing something else, so I will try my very best for being a teacher, an English teacher, and soon will be a lecturer. Amin.

in the teachers’ office

Ohh and yes, I am starting to deal with my overweight body with some exercises in the gym. But it’s kinda failing when it comes to –> food. Damn I can’t stop the temptation. So my body is still gaining weight till now. I think this is what we called ‘guilty pleasure’.

Muara Kapuas, Yogyakarta

Silla, Yogyakarta

Now I am sorta addicted with Korea!! Yeah right, all about that country is fascinating me. I love the movies, the language, the food, the culture, the people.. everything! At the time I’m starting to learn the language, annyeong haseo is the very basic language for saying hello. I am also in love with the movies esp serial movies such as Dae Mul, Full house, Boys Before Flower, Playful Kiss, My Princess, and many more. Ahhh how I am dying to visit Korea! *wish list*

Will come with other random posts, stay tune :)

Random love post :p

Its been a week after my 21st birthday, and its been a while since  I last wrote in here,

ohh how time runs so fast,..

Lets start with a quotation I copied from somewhere:

“Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat, or will stay awake just to watch you sleep… wait for the boy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats, who holds your hand in front of his friends, who thinks you’re just as pretty without makeup on. One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky his is to have you…. The one who turns to his friends and says, ‘that’s her.’”

Yeah, how I was almost giving up looking for the perfect guy,..

All this time I had been pretending by saying I’m a tough independent woman, then I realize, love does matter, hahahaa

I am way too picky because of course I wanna find the best one..

Then I met this guy about a year ago,

We had great chat and laugh, met several times, and I knew he is so into me,

But then it’s kinda devastating when you thought you had already found someone just perfect for you,

but sadly, he is taken. Yes, TAKEN! *tears*

he was already did all the time since we first met.

Oh why are all the good guys takenn?!

But who am I to blame?

Again, this story is so yesterday, not hoping anything from him anymore.

I just want you to know that it is sooo seldom I met the perfect guy,

and this time, I am still searching for another one,

the one who is meant to be with me,

the real HIM that will treat me just like the quote above :p

Yeah, till now I keep moving on :)

P.S.: My perfect guy is not the wealthy or handsome one, but my type of perfect guy is smart, mature and just ‘click’ with me. That’s it :)

Does LOVE need a reason?

*Taken from my facebook note,  adapted from a friend*

Lady: Why do you like me..? Why do you love me?

Man : I can’t tell the reason. But I really like you…

Lady : You can’t even tell me the reason… how can you say you like me? How can you say you love me?

Man : I really don’t know the reason, but I can prove that I love you.

Lady : Proof? No! I want you to tell me the reason. My friend’s boyfriend can tell her why he loves her but not you!

Man : Ok..ok!!! Erm… because you are beautiful,

because your voice is sweet,

because you are caring,

Because you are loving,

because you are thoughtful,

because of your smile,

because of your every movements.

The lady felt very satisfied with the man’s answer.

Unfortunately, a few days later, the Lady met with an accident and went into the coma stage.

The Guy then placed a letter by her side, and here is the content:

Darling,

Because of your sweet voice that I love you…Now can you talk? No! Therefore I cannot love you.

Because of your care and concern that I like you…Now that you cannot show them, therefore I cannot love you.

Because of your smile, because of your every movement that I love you…Now can you smile? Now can you move?

No, therefore, I cannot love you.

If love needs a reason, like now, there is no reason for me to love you anymore.

Does love need a reason? NO!

Therefore, I still love you…And love doesn’t need a reason

With love always,

Forever yours.

blog evaluation :p

*Okay,

I tell u before,

this will be a very2 short post,

I am not prepared*

Wowww its been so long since my last post,

getting busier day by day,

and i’m not that gifted in writing so the inspirations come so seldom,

:D

Someone complained me because of too much photos in my blog,

Is that so irritating? If yes, I’m so sorry :)

PS: I’m starting to write my thesis for my bachelor degree, wish me luck!! ^^

Yogyakarta and Pocket Photography

I am a little bit messed up lately,

Stressed because of some stuff but then I brightened up again when it came to traveling! :D

I spent the whole weekend last week exploring Yogyakarta (we called it Jogja in short),

Enjoying the places I’ve never been before (although it was 6 years I’ve been living in the city),

Realizing how beautiful and historical this city is, And of course doing my other hobby, taking photographs,

Yeah, I have a great enthusiasm every time I captured what I saw and kept them as memories in my pocket camera,

And now I am seriously learning photography and photo-editing (I wish I can have a professional camera oneday) I will show you some of them in this post.

Back to the topic, I visited Tamansari (the bathing place of the Keraton princess), Prambanan, a very gorgeous ancient Hindu temple, and Sekaten, a seasonal festival held in honor of Muhammad’s birthday (sorry for this place, my camera was out of battery that time and it was so crowded that I couldn’t get any photos there).

Fyi, my friends were the victims to become the sudden models for my photos *lol*

Enjoy the photographs with my own license :p

Tamansari, Model: Dinda Rainny

Prambanan Temple, Model: Isabella Atawuwur

Here are some photos when we were at The Grojogan Sewu, Tawangmangu, Centra Java last year.

Tawangmangu, Models: Iva, Dinda & Myself :p

I still have weeks to enjoy my holiday before the next semester, I am planning to visit more places and come up with more photographs

Any comments for the photographs and my photo-editing will be so valuable because I am so beginner in this field :)

See you very soon,

Choco Rya

After Reading ‘Deception Point’

Firstly, please apologies me for every mistake I’ve made in writing this blog, especially for the grammar-errors, yeah, I’m majoring in English Education and yet I’m still doing poorly in tenses. At least I’ve tried, trying to improve my English level, hoping this blog will be going international *dreaming* :p

Sharing my suddenly poetic words from my facebook’s status yesterday:

Why doesn’t it come sooner?

Now its become clearer,

As pure as water,

In a clean river…

And just like a flower,

In a beautiful summer,

It blossoms like never…

Hmmm… however much we tried to hide something, we must know that heart never lies…

Lets leave the heart thing, I just finished reading a book. I can say, a fantastic book.

It has been long since I had this sensation in reading a book.

Sorry before but I hate science, science is astonishing, but my brain is always rejecting it.

Memorizing scientific terms and calculating chemical elements are what I am NOT good at. No wonder I always got bad scores on my chemistry and physics classes (gratefully, I don’t have to meet them in my university time)

Unexpectedly, I felt so into science during reading this book.

His descriptions of the scientific things were so detail and amazing.

I admire his complexity and how he brought us to face the shocking facts.

I never read any of his books before, because I watched the movies already.

Now, obviously, I fell in love with Dan Brown,

And his brilliant ‘Deception Pont’

A must-have book. Super recommended.

I wish the movie will soon be launched.

Then I can conclude my top three writers are:

  1. Dan Brown
  2. Joanne Katherine Rowling
  3. Sidney Sheldon

:)

Movies I recommend

Did I tell you I’m a movie-maniac?

And I’m serious with that.

Not that I watch movie all the time or knowing the name of the actors by heart, but I just love the time when I can laugh or cry only by watching my notebook.

When I’m watching movies, nothing can disturb me, and I mean it,

Sometimes I spent the whole day in my room with movies (I am so no use, hahaha).

And yes, I’ve experienced good and bad movies.

I would like to share some good movies I’ve watched (this is my own opinion, you can have your own perspective and I’m open for any comments)

The journey of my Life

I can say, my life is quite nomadic

*Bandung*

I was born in Bandung, West Java, 6th November 1989

Lived there for 2 years,

But please don’t ask me what happened there,

I can’t remember even a bit!

What I know is that I must be so cute that time, hahaha

Maybe it’s so funny that I didn’t know my own birth place

Cannot explain anything except that I was born in Kiara Condong

But I will keep it always, not in my heart, but in my wallet (written on every of my ID card :p)

*Brunei Darussalam*

Then we moved abroad

Brunei Darussalam

Only a small piece of land, but surprisingly so rich and splendid,

With a Sultan as the king of four districts

(Brunei Muara, Tutong, Temburong, and Belait)

Located on the Borneo Island, next to Malaysia and Indonesia

This is the second place where I called home

I grew up there,

Starting to learn ABC

Learning to count

Learning to sing London Bridge and Twinkle2 Little Stars

Learning to read Al-Quran

Learning English since Kindergarten

Learning to have friends and socializing

And many other things that I remember them by heart until this very second,

I spent my kindergarten and primary school (7 years) in Sekolah Tunas Jaya PGGMB Madang, right beside my house

One year of my secondary school (Form 1, the last year in Brunei), I studied at Sekolah Menengah PGGMB Sungai Akar

We also had second school every afternoon to learn more about our religion, Islam. My school was Sekolah Ugama Lambak Kanan (1997-2001)

10 whole years in a Malay-speaking country, growing up there, I tell you, Brunei is in my blood

But of course, we’re Indonesians and we still celebrate our independence day on 17th August, mother’s day, Idul Fitri, and other big days in Kedutaan Besar Repulik Indonesia in Brunei

I’m really dying to go back there, just to visit my childhood places:

-          Sultan Palace, open house every Idul Fitri, queuing so long just to shake hands with Sultan’s wives, watching fireworks every 15th July on Sultan’s birthday

-          Jami ‘Asr Mosque, a very incredibly beautiful mosque

-          Jerudong Park, the only theme park in Brunei

-          Yayasan, the only mall in Brunei that time

-          The airport! Where we love to buy chicken pie

-          Tiong Hin, a supermarket, they have the best Kebab I’ve ever tasted

-          Kampong Ayer, houses over the water

-          Maktab, where my father worked as a lecturer, sometimes we played there

-          Bukit Syahbandar, where we done many adventurous outbonds

-          KBRI, where Indonesian citizens in Brunei gather together often

-          My schools, where I had good times and bad times, learning what is right and what is wrong

-          Last but not least, my home, where I lived in there for nearly 8 years and bicycling around every noon, playing with my sisters, oh God, I miss that! :’(

When we’re still in Brunei, my family and I traveled a lot. We had so much time for holiday and we always went somewhere to spend the time. We drove our own car to pass the boundary and went to the neighborhood countries, Malaysia and Indonesia. We went to Miri and Pontianak. I had been to Singapore once when I was a kid; there is not much that I remember. We also had holidays in Kuala Lumpur. We stayed in hotel (I forgot the name) where they had penguins near the swimming pool. We had a great time in Sunway Lagoon, KLCC, Kuala Lumpur Tower, etc. My family also once went to Saudi Arabia for Umroh. I miss the time when I saw Ka’bah for the first time with my own eyes, riding a camel with my sisters, shopping chocolates, every single thing! I wish I can go back to those places again. For long holidays, we often flew back to Indonesia to meet our relatives.

Then my parents decided to move back to our country, Indonesia. Leaving Brunei with tears but we will keep it in our memories.

*Jakarta*

We started our lives in South Jakarta, Legoso Raya, Ciputat

I totally remember our scary house there, but it’s okay, hehehehe

I continued my study at Madrasah Pembangunan UIN Jakarta

I got a little bit trouble in my early times studying in Indonesia because there were many subjects that I’ve never learned them before,

The language was also different,

But I successfully catch up on everything

What I remember the most is that friendship in Indonesia is awesome :)

I only lived in Jakarta for one and a half year because I had to continue my study in Yogyakarta, following my sister

I don’t really like living in Jakarta because I’m stressed of the traffic jam!!

*Yogyakarta*

After I finished my junior high school,

My parents decided to sent me to Yogyakarta with my sister

That was the very first time I live alone without my parents

I cried a lot craving for going back home for weeks

But after months, everything was going so well

I finished my high school in SMA Negeri 4 Yogyakarta

And starting to have other beautiful years in my campus life

In English Education Department, Yogyakarta State University

The place where I began to draw up my future

Knowing what way will I take

Creating the plans in my life

Having great friends and adventurous life by doing so many trips by motorcycle, going to the beach for New Year, visiting Tawangmangu, a very beautiful place, Tugu Jogja, Malioboro, Ketep, Alun2 Kidul, Tamansari, and many more

I love living in Jogja so much

I’m still here (6 years until now) finishing my study

And my family moved back to our hometown in Jepara, Central Java

Except for my sister, living in US now

Now I don’t know where my fate will bring me

I hope it will be somewhere more fun

I am praying to continue my study abroad, being a lecturer and living happily with my husband and kids :)

Wowww, just realized that this post is so long,

I hope you have a great time reading it

Luv,

Choco Rya
